FASHION FILM FESTIVAL
9 editions ago, when national fashion films were still rare, Porto Fashion Week brought to Portugal the concept that was beginning to be explored in the biggest fashion weeks in the world: the Fashion Film Festival. The only one of its kind in Portugal, it aims to highlight the Fashion Film as a privileged audiovisual language to promote and disseminate the work of creators in the Fashion and Audiovisual industry, highlighting and rewarding the best works.
The categories of this edition are: National Fashion Films by Independent Authors, Brands, Technical Textiles, Alive Mobile, International Fashion Films and the category of Home Textiles, in honor of the Capital of this segment - Guimarães, which hosts the Festival for the fourth consecutive year.

Fashion Film Festival
The Guimarães Marca Project is a lever for the economic, social and sustainable development of the city of Guimarães. Using a territorial marketing strategy, it promotes the economic and cultural vectors of the city of Guimarães at a national and international level through a vibrant and competitive business community allied to the development of a unique identity, the “Guimarães Marca” stamp .
The Associação Selectiva Moda, organizes the 9th edition of the festival devoted to Fashion Films, the only of its kind in Portugal, in partnership with the producer Farol de Ideias, Guimarães Marca and with the support from Compete and Portugal 2020.
Farol de Ideias is a producer of concepts and contents that operates in the broadcasting or offline market. The productions for the Fashion Film Festival are part of its strategy of producing high-quality films and documentaries for the global market.

Maria Gambina
It's a brand that since its creation in 1993, participates in projects and challenges launched by brands, companies and institutions. Her mentor Maria Cristina Lopes has added distinctions. Since winning the “Sangue Novo” contest twice, being considered the “Creator of the Year '97 by Look Elite”, having won the “Golden Globe in the Personality of the Year-Fashion category” or being the Designer chosen to represent Portugal , as Portuguese ambassador, at Euro-Fashion/Fashion ft. Football 2012 in Ukraine. At the same time, she is dedicated to teaching Fashion Design as a teacher.
Imanol Ruiz De Lara
Is a film director, lives in Madrid, son of actors and he loves cheese! With a portfolio full of good films, he works for brands like Vogue.es, Adolfo Domínguez or Yves Saint Laurent. It has won awards at major international festivals such as Cannes Lions, La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival or Guimarães Fashion Film Festival. Now at GuimaraesFFF as one of the members of the jury. Welcome!
Anabela Baldaque
Is one of the most consistent Portuguese creators. With her own store since 2000, she has accustomed us to being present at the Portugal Fashion and Moda Lisboa shows. At the invitation of InternacionalPortugal Fashion , she has already presented her collection in New York, Paris, Copenhagen, São Paulo Fashion Week, Dusseldorf and Barcelona. She regularly works for television, theater, and advertising dressing anchors and actors. She took the Styling and Modeling course at Escola de Moda Gudi, in Porto and two years later, she left for Italy where she did an internship with the designer Emilio Pucci, in Florence. Today, with more than 30 years of career, her creativity, friendliness and joviality remains and she gives us the honor of having her as a jury.
Kenton Thatcher
Is a lifestyle and advertising photographer and is also known for his celebrity portraits. He was born in London and since the age of 14 he has been carrying a camera, motivated by his father's obsession with the camera and darkroom. He has worked as an assistant to some of the most talented photographers in the world, such as Clive Arrowsmith and his iconic Pirelli Calendar'. He has been a Sony ambassador since 2017, internationally recognized for his campaigns and for brands such as L’Oréal, Siemens, Samsung, TAG/Heuer, Vodafone, Wella, Nike, Sky+, Maxim, Sony, Elle or Universal Music HSBC. In June 2022 he was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) given by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11. Now give us the privilege of being one of our judges.
Begoña Pascual
CEO Founder of the boutique agency Ipsa Ratio, has a degree in Romance languages from the Salamanca University and a postgraduate degree in International Relations. With 29 years dedicated to the intercultural consultancy sector, namely in France, Italy and Spain, he has a significant experience in the Fashion & Retail sector, where he had the privilege of having no curriculum in leading companies in the sector, such as the Inditex Group, LVMH, H&M or Cortefiel. This restless spirit is one of the great elements of the jury.
Márcio Simões
Is a film director and was the big winner of the Fshion Film Festival first edition, in 2014, with three awards in the category of author fashion films. Between advertising and documentary film, he works regularly with platforms such as RTP and The Walt Disney Company. Now join the jury and help us raise the level.
Maria João Vieira Pinto
Is the director of Marketeer and Executive Digest magazines. Graduated in Modern Languages and Literatures, from the Faculdade de Letras of Coimbra University, she began her career in journalism, in the areas of Politics and Economics, at the newspaper "O Comércio do Porto" and performed various roles over the years, as a contributor to the Management sections of Prémio magazine, editor responsible for the magazine of the airline Air Luxor, editor responsible for the internal magazine of the José de Mello Group, contributor to the magazine Selecções do Reader's Digest and editor of Revista Marketeer and responsible for the conception and presentation of the TV program "Marketing in a minut" in RTP. We are very proud to have Maria João as jury member.
Braz Costa
Holds a degree in Metal-Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minho. Since 2000 is General Director of CITEVE. Accumulating, since 2012, the executive director position of CeNTI. At the international level, chairs TEXTRANET and is Vice-President of the European Technology Platform for the future of Textiles and Clothing. Member of the High Level Group of the Textile Cluster: Technology and Fashion. He has been part of the FFF jury since the Technical Textiles category was born. Welcome, once more!
Marta Mota Prego
Has been Head of Economic Development Division at Guimarães City Council since 2017, where she coordinates the development and economic promotion of the territory, the Territorial Marketing Project Guimarães Marca, the network of municipal incubators “Set. Up Guimarães” in the creative, technological and industrial areas and in investment attraction and circular economy programs. Her degree is in Architecture, from the University of Minho and she has a postgraduate degree in History of Architecture. As a member of the jury, she offers us her professionalism, creativity and very good mood.

Organization
The Associação Selectiva Moda, organizes the 9th edition of the festival devoted to Fashion Films, the only of its kind in Portugal, in partnership with the producer Farol de Ideias, Guimarães Marca and the support from Compete and Portugal 2020.
Date and Location
The awards ceremony will take place in Guimaraes, at a date and place to be announced.

2. The jury may award special or honourable mentions with a diploma.
3. There will be an Audience Award (Trophy) awarded according to the vote of the general public, that will be held in a specific site. The vote date will be announced on the festival website.

Entry Conditions
1. Fashion Films are deemed to be short films (see section 6) with a creative audiovisual proposal, either communicating a brand or as a means of artistic expression, about:
- One or more fashion products;
- A collection by fashion designers or brands;
- A visual identity of one (or more) fashion designer or brand;
- An experimental and innovative idea on the subject of fashion;
- One or more technical textile products.
2. National Fashion Films are those in which brands (in the category of brand films) or authors (in the category of author films) are Portuguese.
3. International Fashion Films are those in which the brands and/or production/direction present international names non-resident in Portugal, even though the shooting is done in Portugal.
4. National Fashion Films are divided into four competitions: brand, technical textiles, home textiles and independent authors. Branded fashion films are commissioned by a specific fashion brand responsible for registering for the festival. Technical textiles and home textiles films are commissioned by a specific brand of technical textiles (or functional textiles) and home textiles and the brands are responsible for the registration at the festival. Independent author films are, as the name implies, independent of brands (do not promote a brand, although they may refer to one or more brands) and the author is the responsible for registering for the festival.
5. Alive mobile Fashion Films are recorded by smartphones, in Portrait or Landscape format, with minimum resolution Full HD and it is mandatory to indicate smartphone’s model used in film recording. This competition has national and international scope.
6. “Mediterrâneo, essência e tradição " Fashion Films invites filmmakers to tell stories inspired by the Mediterranean and the values and culture –clothing, handcrafts, feelings, ways of life- that over many centuries have been associated with it.
7. All original works produced or published in 2019, 2020 or 2021 are allowed to enter the competition. Preferably, they must have from 1 to 8 minutes long and a maximum length of 10 minutes. The organiser reserves the right to reduce the display time of Fashion Films submitted for competition exceeding the recommended limit.
8. The videos must display the link of the site where they are hosted (YouTube, Vimeo or other) with a minimum of 720p (1080p, is recommended), possibility of downloading (full HD) it with no access password.
9. Candidates can compete with more than one video, it can be from the same director, producer or brand. Each video must have a registration on the festival’s website. Registration is free, at www.guimaraesfashionfilmfestival.com/en/ and deadline is October 20, 2022, until midnight GMT (+ 00:00).
10. At least one promotional screenshot (300dpi resolution – JPEG/TIFF) should be attached to each video submitted for the competition.
11. It is recommended that videos with dialogues contain English subtitles. This recommendation is not, however, a condition for entry.
12. The author guarantees the authorship of the work and assumes all liability for third party claims.
13. The organisers of the Festival reserve the right to change or revise some of the conditions of these rules.
General Conditions
1. The organisation of the Festival is responsible for the selection of films that will go to the competition. The four most voted films by the jury, in each category, will be designated as nominees, with the attribution of an official badge sent by the organisation. The winners of each category, also receive an official badge sent by the organiser.
2. The awards goes to:
a) The award for Best Film for the national competitions of Brand fashion films, Technical Textiles and Home Textiles will be given to the name/person that appears in the registration form as Director or Responsible for the brand.
b) The technical and artistic award for national brand and author fashion film competitions will be given to the person listed as Director / Director of Photography on the same registration form or to their legal representatives.
c) The award for Best Film in the international film competition will be given to the Brand Manager, director of the Producing Entity or to the Producer, which is included in the registration form. The technical and artistic trophies will be given to the person listed as Director / Director of Photography on the same registration form or their legal rep resentatives.
d) The award for Best Film in the alive mobile and "Mediterrâneo, essência e tradição" Fashion Films competition will be given to the author on the registration form.
3. The authors of the selected videos authorise the free exhibition of their films, without royalties, at the event and on the official festival platforms (web and mobile). For the purposes of publicising the Festival, excerpts of selected works can be used in official promotional content of the event, unless otherwise expressed in the entry form.
4. The Festival reserves the right to use the winning videos for the promotion of the fashion film art and the Festival itself at screenings for such films, in similar events and future editions of this Festival.
5. The Festival’s organiser reserves the right not to hold the competition in any of the categories if the quality or the quantify of the works received is not sufficient in number.
6. All the details and issues not stated in these Rules shall be decided and communicated by the organisers of the Festival.
7. Participating in this Festival implies accepting the rules set out herein.

Fátima Lopes is a renowned portuguese stylist. She was born on Madeira Island on March 8, 1965 and in 1990 she decided to embrace her fashion dream and move to Lisbon.
In September 1992 the 1st Fátima Lopes collection was presented in a fashion show in Lisbon and the first Fátima Lopes boutique was born.
In 1995, Fátima Lopes brand began to be commercially presented in several fashion fairs in Paris and the following year it opened its boutique in the city of Lights. In March 1999 Fátima Lopes became the 1st portuguese fashion designer to be part of Prêt-a-Porter Féminin Fashion Week in Paris. Since then, Fátima Lopes presents her collections twice a year in the French city.
Bold and irreverent, the designer surprised the world and entered the Guinness Book in March 2000, by showing herself the 1st bikini in gold and diamonds in the history of Fashion and the most expensive in the world, valued at one million dollars.
In 2001 the first fine jewelery collections were born, followed by porcelain, cutlery, crystal, home textiles, eyeglasses, pens, flooring and coverings.
There are countless career awards received, having even been decorated as Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique, by the then President of the Republic, Mr. Jorge Sampaio.
In September 2011, Fátima Lopes once again surprised the fashion world, presenting for the 1st time, a parade on top of the most representative French monument, the Tour Eiffel. The collection for summer 2012 with the theme “Lévitation” had the official opening honors of the “Paris Fashion Week”.
In March 2013 Fátima Lopes launched in Paris her first fragrance “Fátima Lopes be mine”. Fátima Lopes idealized the concept and image, while the essence was in charge of the renowned Givaudan perfumer Aurélien Guichard, the result is a unique and sensual perfume.
The year 2017 marked the 25th anniversary of the brand with an exhibition of 25 pieces representing 25 years of collections and a large fashion show in the space where it was born – Convento do Beato.
On February 26, 2019, Fátima Lopes made history by showing her 41st collection and thus commemorating her 20th anniversary at Paris Fashion Week, becoming the first portuguese-speaking designer to achieve such a feat. The fashion show, presented at the Portuguese Embassy in Paris, had as theme “Portugal” and so, for the first time, it decided to honor the Portuguese soul and culture in a clear appeal to national pride.
On February 29, 2020 Fátima Lopes presented her 43rd fashion collection in Paris at Paris Fashion Week. This was followed by the opening of the Fátima Lopes online store www.fatimalopes.com and the physical store at Travessa do Enviado de Inglaterra 7, in Lisbon.
In 2021, the Fátima Lopes brand is getting ready to start its Franchising project.
Considered one of the biggest references in Branded Content in the world, Patrícia Weiss is Head of Branded Content & Entertainment in the international collective ASAS.br.com, Strategic Consultant for Branded Content, Brand Storytelling, Brand Purpose & Culture and Executive Producer of brand narratives. She is also Chairwoman of the Branded Content Marketing Association BCMA Portugal and South America and Advisory Board Member of Women In Marketing UK and IED Instituto Europeo di Design in Milan, where she is also a visiting professor of Brand Storytelling, Branded Entertainment & Content.
Creator, curator and professor of the first Bootcamp in the world of Branded Entertainment & Content at Miami Ad School, of the first Post-Graduate Course in Branded Content (launched by Senac University in 2016, in Brazil) and teaches In-Company workshops and its immersive Decode Masterclass And Create Brand Storytelling for years, in countries like Italy, France, USA, Portugal, Mexico, as well as in Africa and Latin America.
Strategic professional with 34 years of experience in the marketing and communication industry, Patrícia started her career in Marketing at McDonald's and Citibank, and worked in the leadership of large advertising agencies such as Ogilvy, Africa, DM9DDB, McCaan, co founded M&C Saatchi in Brazil and was VP of Latin America Strategic Planning at Leo Burnett. Patrícia has been a judge in the Branded Content & Entertainment category at renowned international festivals such as Cannes Lions, CLIO Awards, London Awards, NYC Brand Film Awards, The Drum Content Awards, A-List Hollywood, Dubai Lynx, FIAP, Lisbon Ad Fest, Be Australia Awards, Gerety Awards, Festival Of Media, Effie Awards.
She is a collaborating author of the American Branding Strategy Insider with essays and interviews also published in the American magazines Contently, MusebyClio, LIA Insider and in Brazilian and Latin publications.
