Associação Selectiva Moda is organizing the 10th edition of the Fashion Films festival, the only one of its kind in Portugal, in partnership with Farol de Ideias, Guimarães Marca and with the support of Compete and Portugal 2030.

Date and venue

The awards ceremony will take place in Guimarães, at a date and place to be announced in due course.

Jury, Trophies and Support

1. The jury will be made up of renowned professionals in the fields of Fashion, Marketing, Communication and Audiovisual and will award the following trophies and production support in the form of fees:

2. The Jury may award special or honorable mentions, which will receive a diploma.

3. There will be an Audience Trophy based on a vote on a website to be created for this purpose. Online voting will take place on a date to be announced on the festival website.

Conditions for admission

1. Fashion Films are considered to be short videos (see point 6) with a creative audiovisual proposal, either in a brand communication mode or in an artistic expression mode, about:

- One or more fashion products;
- A seasonal collection by fashion designers or brands;
- A visual identity of one (or more) fashion designers or brands;
- An experimental and innovative idea with a fashion theme;
- One or more technical textile products.

2. National Fashion Films are all those in which the brands (in the case of brand films) or authors (in the category of author films) are Portuguese.

3. International Fashion Films are those in which the brands and/or the production/directing team feature international names not resident in Portugal, even if the shoot takes place in Portugal.

4. National Fashion Films are divided into four competitions: brand, technical textiles, home textiles and independent author. Brand films are commissioned by a specific fashion brand, which will be responsible for submitting them to the festival. The technical textiles and home textiles films are commissioned by a specific brand of technical textiles (or functional textiles) and home textiles and the brands are responsible for entering them in the festival. Independent author films are, as the name suggests, independent of brands (they do not promote a brand, although they may refer to one or more brands) and the author will be responsible for entering them in the festival.

5. ALIVE MOBILE Fashion Films are filmed with smartphones, in Portrait or Landscape format, with a minimum resolution of Full HD and the entry form must indicate the smartphone model. This competition is restricted to students, both national and international, from areas compatible with the festival, such as: cinema, audiovisual, advertising, marketing, design, fashion design, marketing, among others.

6. All unpublished works produced or published in 2022, 2023 and up to March 31, 2024 are eligible for the competitions.

Their duration should preferably be between 1 and 8 minutes, with a limit of up to 10 minutes. The Organizer reserves the right to reduce the screening time of competing Fashion Films that exceed the recommended limit.

7. The videos must include a link to the website where they are hosted (YouTube, Vimeo or other) at a minimum of 720p (1080p is recommended), a link to download the video [in full HD] and no access password.

8. Applicants may submit more than one video, whether from the same director, production company or brand. Each video must be entered on the festival website. Registration is free, via guimaraesfashionfilmfestival.com and has a deadline of March 31, 2024, 24:00 GMT.

9. At least one promotional photograph/image (300 dpi resolution - JPEG/TIFF) must be attached to each video submitted to the competition.

10. It is recommended that videos with dialogues have English subtitles. However, this recommendation is not a condition for admission.

11. The author guarantees the authorship of their work and assumes all liability arising from claims by third parties.

12. The Festival Board reserves the right to amend or revise any of the conditions of these regulations.

General conditions 

1. The Festival organizers are responsible for selecting the films in the competition. In each category, the four films with the most votes from the jury will be classified as Nominees, with the award of an official badge sent by the Festival organization. The winners in each category will also be awarded an official badge sent by the organization.

 2. Awarding of honorariums and trophies:

a) The trophies for Best Film in the national fashion film competitions for Brand, Technical Textiles and Home Textiles will be awarded to the name that appears on the entry form as the Director or Person Responsible for the brand or institution.
b) The technical and artistic fees and trophies for the national Branded and Authored fashion film competitions will be awarded to the person listed as Director / Cinematographer on the same entry form or to their legal representatives.
c) The trophy for Best Film in the international film competition will be awarded to the Brand Manager, director of the Producing Entity or the Producer listed on the entry form. The technical and artistic trophies will be awarded to the person listed as. Director / Cinematographer on the same entry form or their legal representatives.
d) The honorarium and trophy for Best Film in the ALIVE MOBILE fashion film competition will be awarded to the author listed on the entry form, who must prove that they are a student. 

3. The authors of the selected videos authorize their film to be shown free of charge, without royalties, at the event and on any official festival platforms (web and mobile). For the purposes of promoting the Festival, excerpts from the selected works may be used in official promotional content for the event itself, unless otherwise stated on the entry form.

4. The Festival reserves the right to use the winning videos to promote the art of fashion films and the Festival itself in exhibitions of the genre, at similar events and in future editions of this Festival.

5. The Festival Board reserves the right not to hold a competition in any of the categories if the quality or quantity of the works received is not sufficient.

6. All details and issues not expressed in these regulations will be decided and communicated by the Festival management.

7. Participation in this Festival implies acceptance of the rules expressed in these Regulations.
